That impactful moment....

At some point in your life you have made a decision that took you onto a life path that has had or still has a great impact on our view of your world.   Do you remember that moment?   Perhaps you were very young and read a story or played a game or listened to someone speaking and realized this is what “I want..this is what feels right for me”.

Do you remember that moment?

Think about your experiences as a student or teacher.  Do you recall that moment when it clicked, made sense and you knew this was your path or that it was time for a change?   Remember the feeling,  take a moment to breathe in and feel that way again..be present in that moment.......then reflect on how and what you choose to be the leader, facilitator, teacher each day.

Brainstorm-the teenage brain

Just finished reading ” Brainstorm-The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain” by Daniel J Siegel, M.D.   I highly recommend it to parents and teachers. By the way, teenage as Siegel defines it, is ages 12-24.  The book is based on science yet I found it so practical, down to earth and truly enlightening.
“The power of the adolescent mind emerges from …brain changes, which permit us to solve problems in new and innovative ways.  ……Adolescence is a golden age for innovation because it is during this time of growth and change that the brain’s developmental shifts in the reward centers and the cortex encourage creative thought and drive adolescents to explore the world in new ways.”  pg 94
